CAP Therapy
Learn more about how Cold Atmospheric Plasma works, who it may suit and what to expect from your treatment.
How does Cold Atmospheric Plasma work?
Cold Atmospheric Plasma generates reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, commonly referred to as RONS.
Rather than aggressively resurfacing or exfoliating the skin, CAP is used as a non-invasive technology that may help create an environment that supports the skin’s natural repair processes.
Who may benefit from CAP treatments?
CAP may be considered for people experiencing eczema and dermatitis, Topical Steroid Withdrawal, acne and congestion, inflamed or reactive skin, compromised skin barriers, slow-healing or damaged skin, and skin affected by microbial imbalance.
Every skin is different, so suitability is assessed during consultation before treatment begins.
How many CAP treatments will I need?
The number and frequency of treatments varies depending on the skin concern, its severity and how the skin responds.
For chronic or highly reactive skin concerns such as eczema or TSW, CAP may be recommended as part of a course rather than as a single treatment.
Appointments may initially be scheduled more regularly and then spaced further apart as the skin becomes more stable.
Can the skin temporarily look worse after CAP?
Reactive or compromised skin can naturally fluctuate throughout its recovery journey.
Some clients may experience temporary changes such as increased dryness, flaking, itching, redness or shedding as the skin continues to change.
Your skin will be monitored throughout your treatment plan, and recommendations can be adjusted according to how it responds.
Is there downtime after CAP?
CAP itself is generally a non-invasive treatment with minimal downtime.
However, clients experiencing eczema, TSW or significantly compromised skin may already have redness, dryness, flaking, sensitivity or inflammation, and these symptoms may continue to fluctuate independently of treatment.
Homecare and aftercare recommendations will be tailored to the current condition and tolerance of your skin.
